About
Ivory Tower, known for being the longest-running college soap opera, has been reimagined for the YouTube generation as Harvard’s first venture into web sitcoms. Ivory Tower is HUTV’s scripted, narrative comedy program, using each season to introduce students to a new cast of outrageous, quirky characters, whose lives in the Yard, on the River, or at the (yikes!) Quad become the source of an endless amount of fun.
Though Ivory Tower began in 1993 as a soap opera, and was actually featured on NBC’s Real Life in 1996, it is now firmly in the territory of sitcom. In an era when the number of sitcoms is waning, and the Internet has become a bastion of support for many narrative comedy web series, Ivory Tower is picking up slack in the Harvard community.
Ivory Tower is totally student-written, -directed, -produced, and -acted. It can be seen online at HUTVnetwork.com and ivorytowersoap.com.
